Why Seed Phrases Matter

A seed phrase (sometimes called a recovery phrase) is the human-readable version of your private keys. Anyone who has the phrase has full control of your crypto — no passwords, emails, or support tickets can override it.

Self-custody puts you in full control — but also full responsibility. That empowerment comes with risk if your seed phrase isn't stored correctly.

If You Lose Your Seed Phrase but Still Have Your Wallet

This is the best-case scenario. If you still have access to your hardware or software wallet, you can create a brand-new wallet with a fresh seed phrase and move your crypto into it.

This removes any risk that someone might find your old phrase later.

If You Lose Your Seed Phrase and Lose Your Device
